I found what appears to be a really frustrating design choice for anyone coming from similar games such as Slay the Spire, etc - specifically, you can find yourself in a situation where you are down to one character (other's are dead) and you simply cannot do anything. You don't have enough steam to use whatever cards are available to your character (if any), and attempts to re-draw other (dead) characters' cards in your hand over the course of 4-5 turns only results in drawing more of the dead characters' cards. When you are 1 of 3 characters (Galleo in my case) and the only one alive, 16 out of the 24 cards in the deck (those belonging to the dead characters) are unusable to you. That does not include cards that your character CAN use, but doesn't have enough steam points to use (in my case, Galleo's deck - 2x mend (2 steam each), 1x wrecking ball (3 steam), 1x gigaton punch (4 steam)). In other words, every card that requires no steam to use was still in my deck - 2x steam punch, 2x shields up. So that's 20 out of 24 cards in the deck that are unusable.I literally sat there in a boss fight with the boss at ~30% hp, myself at ~90% as the last char alive, re-drawing 2 dead characters' cards per turn, looking for anything to use. I went turn after turn without being able to do anything at all except for once drawing a single steam punch (gave me 1 steam, not enough to use any cards of mine requiring steam as the lowest required 2), until I died. I stopped playing then and there (alt+f4 out of frustration), and was about to initiate a refund request.Instead of immediately refunding, I'll see what happens with this before I play again and cross the 2 hour mark.My suggestion: Either remove dead character's cards from the deck so that it's not constantly full of unusable cards, or perhaps consider a one-time full-hand discard\/redraw, instead of only being able to redraw 2 individual cards per turn. Will change to recommend if this is addressed.. A++ game, being a huge deck builder board game fan and also playing slay the spire it's easy to like these kind of games. The strategy in the game is quick to learn and fun to play around with. I don't want to spoil anything but the combat gets pretty interesting and becomes more then just playing your strongest card.-graphics 10/10-story 4/10 (very cliche)-sound 9/10 (battle music is perfect, the explore music doesn't quite fit the atmosphere)-dialogue 3/10 (unless you under the age of 15... its very dry and easily geared towards kids)-difficulty ?/10 (hard to say, I'm playing the hardest difficulty and have yet to have a problem, though I'm not sure if its because I'm a veteran of the genre or its just easy)-strategy potential 7.5/10 (there are limitations to what you can do in a turn but its fun to manipulate. You also get 2 free re-draws a turn which is a nice touch)-ambience 10/10 (100% feels, and looks like it belongs in the steam world universe)all in all a solid card rpg that should keep you entertained.if you like card rpgs (slay the spire etc you will like this)if you're looking for a grindy depthfest that will keep your brain boner hard, this might not do it for you)if you're an average person yeah this will be a good time.. First time I closed the game since I bought it 11.1 hrs ago.. Really polished game that offers a unique spin on the deck-building system, similar to Slay the Spire. The story is clearly geared towards a younger audience, probably 13 y.o's, but as other reviewers have stated, that's not necessarily a bad thing. The writing is good and the gameplay is fun and enjoyable throughout. $20 is a bit steep, in my opinion, as the game is only about 12-15 hours long. Pick it up on a sale.. I seriously love the SteamWorld series. It's a familiar feeling with a new experience every time, and I didn't even hesitate when I realized that there was a new entry waiting to be purchased. This is my first time playing a desk-based RPG, and I'm enjoying it immensely so far. Looking forward to putting more hours into this on my way to 100%! Keep it up, Image & Form Games.. Me "oh, I'll try this out for 30 minutes and get a feel for it...(3 hours later)... I JUST. CAN'T. STOP!" If you like beautiful 2D art, a cute sense of humor, JRPG-turn-based-style combat, and deckbuilding all wrapped into one nice package then this is the game for you. Worth every penny!. Quite good game but the ending part is so tiring.. Steamworld games are always a delight to play and this is no execption. They alternate the gameplay in each game so this time it's a card game similar to Slay the Spire. The different heroes have cards that greatly synergize with each other and between heroes as well. Presentation is as always great with the Robots returning, this time in a medieval setting. The only complaint I have is the sound design and music. As good as some of the tracks are it's just really boring when the same song plays over and over again. It was the same problem Steam world Heist had.And btw please make Steam world Heist 2! Draw & Win SteamWorld Quest for Steam!: Howdy, everyone!
